The works involved the careful reinstatement of the early 19th Century building into a dwelling which could accommodate contemporary modern living, while conserving historic features, including four fireplaces of carved white marble.
A complete remodelling of the basement and conversion of the attic delivered four/five bedrooms within a light and spacious layout. Rooms were successfully and efficiently planned with architectural design features. These included wet room/ bathroom pods, which delivered flexibility and neatness, without impacting on the proportions of existing spaces.
A contemporary extension was also constructed above an existing lightwell, creating a strong physical link between the house and a newly re-established private garden.
Modern technology including a pedestrian lift, lighting scheme and vehicular turntable were also sensitively incorporated to deliver a home that would not only be enjoyed by its occupants but, through long term residential use, safeguard the building as a historic asset.
