Location: Northington, Hampshire
Completion Date: 2006
Contract Value: circa £300,000
Project Description:
Conversion of a 17th Century Listed barn and extension to farm house with associated covered link.
Works:
The brief was to provide a large games/recreation space, guest accommodation and an office in the converted barn and a new kitchen and master bedroom in the extension. As part of the barn conversion, all coverings were removed and the timber frame completely stripped before being extensively repaired. A modern structure was removed from one side of the building. The new work included provision of a mezzanine floor for the guest rooms and a gallery overlooking the main space. The design for the extension was scaled carefully in relation to the existing house, so as to be ‘legible’ as an addition while providing the space required by the brief.
