Project Description:
Conservation and management plan for the grade II listed 'Building at Risk'.
Works:
As a result of its declining status and value to the local community the Massey’s Folly Building Preservation Trust commissioned Radley House Partnership to produce a comprehensive Conservation Management Plan, to aid them in identifying a way forward for the redundant building, as well as assisting them in securing the necessary funds that will be required to stop the decay of the grade II listed structure for the enjoyment of the local and wider community for years to come. The Plan considers the history and context of the Folly, and then evaluates the ‘Significance’ in both a local and national context. Bearing these values in mind, it identified the ‘Risks and Opportunities’ that exist and sets out a series of ‘Policies and Objectives’ which can be used to overcome this situation, in terms of both the management and the enhancement of the building and site. Throughout the development of the Plan, close interaction with the clients, the local community and stakeholders was maintained. In addition to the publication of regular updates, there has also been a series of consultation events. These have included a questionnaire survey and consultation meetings, which incorporated 'workshop’ sessions, giving the local community and stakeholder groups an opportunity to freely express their desires, concerns and ideas for the future of the Folly.
