Location: Gosport
Completion Date: February 2005
Contract Value: £315,000
Project Description:
Conservation and repair of the 19th Century moat bridge to the Scheduled Ancient Monument.
Works:
Radley House Partnership were appointed as lead consultants to specify and oversee the work which involved the complete dismantling and transportation of the heavy metalwork structure to Telford for repair by specialist conservators. Other aspects of the project included the reinstatement of the ‘lost’ drawbridge as a facsimile of the original military design, and the insertion of bespoke mesh panels as a clearly defined modern and reversible intervention to improve the safety of the balustrade.
