Temple of Diana

Location: Highclere

Completion Date: June 2008

Contract Value: undisclosed

Project Description:

Major conservation and repair of a building at risk.

Works:

This project comprised the repair of the Temple of Diana, involving external masonry and render repairs and essential measures to restore the building’s structural stability.  The primary objective has been to remove the building from the national ‘Buildings At Risk’ Register and to thereby secure its long-term future within the Grade I listed park setting.

Due to funding considerations, the project was split into two phases: Phase I, concentrating upon the most urgent repairs to the dome and upper part of the structure and Phase II , comprising the completion of repairs to the external envelope.

The project is part of a sustained effort and long-term programme to preserve this important redundant building and other follies within Highclere Park.

The repair wok attained various awards, to include a commendation in the Georgian Group Conservation Awards.
